IATI: Generate an IATI export

All of the world's major donors have agreed to publish their data using the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) standard. Many now require that grantees and recipients report back to them in IATI format. DevResults supports one-click IATI exports. The XML file that's generated can be published to the IATI repository, provided to funders, or shared with other organizations.

Once your site is configured for IATI reporting, you can generate an IATI export for any reporting period for one activity or multiple activities

Generate an IATI export for one activity (for one reporting period)

Go to a reporting period page for a single activity. Here, I'm in the 2018 Q1 reporting period for the activity called Access to School Lunches. Click the gear cog in the upper right:

In the menu that opens, click Download IATI xml:

This will run some quick validation to be sure you've completed all of the necessary steps. If you haven't, the pop-up will throw some warnings telling you what needs fixing. If you've properly configured everything, the pop-up will prompt you to download your XML:

Now you can upload this file wherever you need to.

Generate an IATI export for multiple activities (for one reporting period)

Go to Results > Reporting Periods and click on the reporting period for which you'd like to generate and IATI export.

Click the IATI Export button.

This will run some quick validation to be sure you've completed all of the necessary steps. If you haven't, the pop-up will throw some warnings telling you what needs fixing. If you've properly configured everything, the pop-up will prompt you to download your XML:

The downloaded file is suitable for sharing with colleagues, partner organizations, and donors directly, or to publish to the IATI Registry as a public information resource. For more on publishing data on the IATI Registry, see IATI's guidance for "How to create IATI data files" to learn how to validate, make publicly available, and update your files, and "How to publish your data on the IATI Registry" (under Manual Publishing, Individual Files) to learn how to register your publicly accessible data file on the IATI Registry.
